Error 1039: There was a problem adding the application: Unique OwnerID/File ID pair value required

This error occurs when adding a QWC file to the QuickBooks Web Connector (Unique OwnerID FileID pair value required).  The application will not load into the Web Connector.

Likely cause:  The company file may have been moved or path changed from its previous location when you first setup the Web Connector, you may be setting up a second Web Connector for the same QuickBooks file, or an error occured when you were trying to remove the Zed Office application from the Web Connector

Resolution option one:  Remove the old QWC file, and reinstall a new QWC file

  1. Download and install the QBWC CP3Tool from this page.
  2. Run the QBWC CP3Tool application.
  3. Open the QuickBooks company file as Admin user you are trying to connect Zed Office too and make a backup of the company file
  4. Switch back to the QBWC CP3Tool.
  5. Click Select File and locate the .qwc file
  6. Click Remove Stamp
  7. You should now see a Application Certificate message, select the third option, Yes, whenever this QuickBooks company file is open and click Continue.
  8. In the Application Access Request window click Yes followed by Done
  9. Click OK on backup.
  10. The Tool will now display a confirmation message that the Owner ID was successfully removed.
  11. Close the Tool
  12. Run the Web Connector and select the Add Application and browse to where you saved your qwc file and open it
  13. Enter your Zed Office Admin account password, and the Web Connector is ready.
Resolution option two:  We recommend that you remove the current Web Connector version and reinstall the version 1.5 release which does not have this error.
  1. Remove the old QWC file from the Web Connector and remove the Zed Office Web Service listing from QuickBooks > Company Preferences > Integrated applications.
  2. Uninstall your current version of QuickBooks Web Connector (2.x) via the control panel. (we find Revo Uninstaller useful as it can remove unwanted registry entries and means you can skip the steps 3 & 4 below - but use with caution)
  3. Remove any references to the Web Connector in the windows registery (take care when modifying registries since deleting the incorrect entry may stop other applications working, if possible do a registry backup). Go go to Start > Run and type "regedit" and click enter.
  4. Browse to the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Intuit\QBWebConnector and delete the contents of the folder.
  5. Reboot your desktop. If you are using Microsoft Vista then please make sure that you have UAC set to On
  6. Install the QuickBooks Web Connector 1.5 and then add the QWC file into the Web Connector and attempt an update.
